What is Alka® Drops?

Alka® Drops is a mineral concentrate based on zinc. 
With the alkaline drops, you easily make alkaline water: add 4 drops to a glass of water and drink.

How to make alkaline water with Alka® Drops

The recommended daily dose is 1 glass of water with 4 drops, 4 times a day. Preferably on an empty stomach.

  1. 1 Fill a glass with 250 ml of tap water.
  2. 2 Shake the bottle, unscrew the cap, and carefully add 4 drops to the water.
  3. 3 Stir and drink it within one minute.

Tip: Integrate Alka® Drops into your daily routine

Here's how to integrate the drops into your daily life. Drink alkaline water at these times.

  • In the morning, immediately after getting up
  • Half an hour before lunch
  • Half an hour before dinner
  • In the evening, an hour before going to bed

Are you away from home during the day? The bottle fits easily in your bag.

You can also make a liter bottle with alkaline drops and take it with you. Don't forget to close the bottle; otherwise, the quality will deteriorate. For best results, it is recommended to drink 200 ml to 250 ml of alkaline water at a time, rather than taking sips.

Yes, but the taste may become somewhat more bitter due to higher mineral concentration. In some cases — for instance, if tap water is more acidic (pH ~6-6.5) — more drops may be advisable. 

The drops let you control the acidity/alkalinity of your water precisely by adjusting how many drops you add. Ionizers sometimes produce a lower pH than desired. 

It is a dietary supplement and can generally be used without medical advice. If you have concerns, e.g., due to medication use, consult a doctor. 

With a usage of 16 drops per day (4 glasses × 4 drops), one bottle lasts about 3 months. There are about 1500 drops in one bottle. 

Yes. But note: a Brita filter removes many minerals so that the pH will be a bit lower. To make Brita-filtered water sufficiently alkaline, you may need 1-2 extra drops. Use pH strips to test. The pH scale is logarithmic — raising one point takes more alkaline adjustment as the pH increases. 

Yes, but these are acidic since they absorb carbon dioxide from the air. Adding the drops will buffer the CO₂. To achieve a pH greater than 9, you’ll need more drops. Use pH strips to find how many drops are required. 

Yes! Adjust the dosage: maximum 2 glasses per day with 4 drops each. 

The white residue is calcium carbonate buildup. It forms when calcium in the water reacts via several steps with hydroxide ions and carbon dioxide from the air. It is harmless but may reduce effectiveness since hydroxide ions are used in this process. To avoid residue, store alkaline water sealed so it doesn’t contact air. Or drink the glass at once. 

Both contain zinc and contribute to supporting a healthy acid-base balance. The drops are for quickly and easily making alkaline water; pH-Caps deliver bicarbonates in stomach-acid-resistant capsules. 

Yes. Boiling alkaline water made with the drops does not change its pH. It can make drinks like coffee less acidic. But note: drinking it, not creating bicarbonate in your body automatically. 

Yes. When used correctly (drops on an empty stomach and capsules with meals), they complement each other. Avoid using both at once in a single dose. 

Yes, you can add them to tea or coffee to slightly raise the pH. If adding to fruit juice or other sugary drinks, keep in mind that sugars can affect the acid-base balance and the acidity of those drinks. The advice is to use the drops in pure spring or tap water. 

About 20 minutes before a meal, or 1½ to 2 hours after a meal. 

Spring water is often acidic and has a pH value between 6 and 7. Do you use spring water? Then add more Alka® Drops to reach a pH value of 9. Think 5 to 6 drops instead of 4. Adding 4 Alka® Drops to (Dutch) tap water will result in a pH value between 9 and 10.

No, Alka® Drops should never be used undiluted! The drops are very alkaline (pH 14) and therefore sting when they come into contact with your body. It is essential never to allow Alka® Drops to come into contact with your eyes, mouth, or skin undiluted. If this does happen, rinse thoroughly with water. Minor wounds or irritations on the skin will typically heal on their own. If the undiluted drops come into contact with the eyes, mouth, or esophagus, rinse immediately with water and consult a doctor.

Long-term use of Alka® Drops is not a problem.

You can add more than 4 drops to a glass of water. If you add more drops to a glass of water, the taste may become slightly more bitter due to the high concentration of minerals in the drops. In some cases, it is advisable to add more drops, for example, when the tap water is more acidic (pH value around 6 - 6.5).
