The white residue is calcium carbonate buildup. It forms when calcium in the water reacts via several steps with hydroxide ions and carbon dioxide from the air. It is harmless but may reduce effectiveness since hydroxide ions are used in this process. To avoid residue, store alkaline water sealed so it doesn’t contact air. Or drink the glass at once.

Spring water is often acidic and has a pH value between 6 and 7. Do you use spring water? Then add more Alka® Drops to reach a pH value of 9. Think 5 to 6 drops instead of 4. Adding 4 Alka® Drops to (Dutch) tap water will result in a pH value between 9 and 10.
No, Alka® Drops should never be used undiluted! The drops are very alkaline (pH 14) and therefore sting when they come into contact with your body. It is essential never to allow Alka® Drops to come into contact with your eyes, mouth, or skin undiluted. If this does happen, rinse thoroughly with water. Minor wounds or irritations on the skin will typically heal on their own. If the undiluted drops come into contact with the eyes, mouth, or esophagus, rinse immediately with water and consult a doctor.
Long-term use of Alka® Drops is not a problem.
You can add more than 4 drops to a glass of water. If you add more drops to a glass of water, the taste may become slightly more bitter due to the high concentration of minerals in the drops. In some cases, it is advisable to add more drops, for example, when the tap water is more acidic (pH value around 6 - 6.5).
Depending on your wishes or complaints, you can do this treatment every quarter or every six months.
